Work With Me

History is not just something that happened somewhere else, to someone else, a long time ago. It lives in the buildings on your street, in the businesses your grandparents walked past, and in the photographs nobody thought to label. Since 2022, Here…this is you. has been documenting exactly that kind of history – the built, everyday, nearly forgotten kind – in Dodge City and now in Reno.

If you are a business owner, organization, publication, event organizer, or curious individual who wants to bring that kind of research and storytelling to your project, I would love to hear from you.

Sponsored Content & Writing

Sponsored “Then and Now” Feature Post

The heart of what I do. A deeply researched, archive-driven story about a specific building, block, business, or neighborhood, told through historic photographs, maps, newspapers, and on-the-ground documentation alongside the story of what stands or operates there today.

This is not a generic advertorial. It is a real piece of journalism-quality local history that happens to center on a place you care about. You receive:

A full-length feature post published on Here…this is you.

Prominent credit, your logo, and links to your website or booking page

A pull quote or brief statement from you as owner, manager, or steward of the space

Promotion via email newsletter and social channels

An evergreen asset you can link from your own website and share with guests, clients, or visitors for years to come

Investment: $275–$325 per post
Non-profit and historical society rate available. Founding Reno partner pricing in effect for 2026.

Historic Corridor or Theme Series

Ideal for business improvement districts, tourism organizations, or a small group of neighboring property owners who want to tell the story of an entire block, street, or building type together. I produce three to five connected posts around a shared theme – for example, “Historic Motor Lodges of Reno,” “Downtown Dodge City Then and Now,” or “Virginia Street Through the Decades” – and the sponsorship cost is shared across participants.

Each post in the series stands alone but cross-links to the others, building a coherent public archive around your district or theme.

3-post series: $750–$900 total (divided among participating sponsors)

5-post series: $1,200–$1,400 total (divided among participating sponsors)

Column Writing for Local Publications

I am available to write a recurring or one-time history column for newspapers, city magazines, neighborhood publications, or regional online outlets. Whether the focus is Reno’s built environment, Kansas heritage, or place-based storytelling more broadly, I bring the same archival rigor and readable voice that drives Here…this is you.

Columns can be tailored to your readership, publication schedule, and length requirements.

Rates available upon request. Please reach out to discuss scope and fit.

Speaking & Public Programs

Keynote, Panel, or Presentation

I have experience presenting to general and academic audiences on the intersection of local history, built environments, archival research, and community memory. Most recently, I appeared as a panelist at the Kansas Preservation Conference, where I spoke alongside preservation professionals about how social media contributes to the broader work of documenting and protecting historic places.

I am available for:

Museum and library lectures

Historic preservation conferences and symposia

Downtown association or chamber of commerce events

University and community college programs

Cultural organization programming

Speaking fees vary based on event type, travel, and scope. Please inquire.

Guided Walking Tours

I have led walking tours that bring my research to life on the streets where the history actually happened. Participants walk the same blocks that appear in my research, hear the stories behind the buildings they pass every day, and leave with a deeper sense of how a place got to be what it is.

Tours can be:

Custom-designed around a specific neighborhood, street, or theme

Ticketed public tours in partnership with your organization or venue

Private group tours for historical societies, business associations, school groups, preservation organizations, and tourism groups

Private group tours: from $150–$300 depending on group size, length, and preparation required.

Historical Research

Custom Historical Research for Clients

If you need a serious, documented history of a building, property, business, family, or neighborhood – and you need someone who knows how to find things – this is the service for you.

I work with a variety of sources: deeds, historic newspapers, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, city directories, county records, archival photographs, plat maps, and period documents. The result is a written research report or narrative history you can use however you need – for a business website, a property listing, a grant application, a preservation nomination, a family archive, or simply your own knowledge.

Past research has uncovered building histories stretching back nearly two centuries, traced property ownership across multiple eras, and identified the forgotten uses and residents of spaces that most people walk past without a second glance.

Deliverables are customized to your needs and may include:

A written narrative history (short-form or long-form)

A documented timeline with citations

A curated selection of archival images with source notes

A PDF formatted for sharing or printing

Investment: $800–$900 for a standard deep-dive research project.
Multi-project and organizational rates available upon request.

Not Sure What You Need?

If your project does not fit neatly into one of the categories above – or if you want to combine elements from several of them – reach out anyway. Many of the most interesting projects start as a conversation.

I am based in Reno, Nevada and continue to work on Dodge City and Ford County history as well. Whether your project is rooted in the Great Basin, the High Plains, or somewhere else entirely, I am glad to talk about whether my work is a good fit.
